Sharks’ Prout gets tossed from the game on dirty play!

This might cost him a place on the roster…

Dalton Prout is hoping to secure an NHL spot on the roster of the San Jose Sharks for the upcoming season, but might have shot himself in the foot last night…

All because of a knee.

The defenseman was tossed from last night’s 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night, after receiving a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct at the 17:18 mark of the second period.

As Anaheim blue liner Josh Mahura tried to skate with the puck along the boards near the Sharks blue line, Prout stepped into him with his shoulder but ended up catching Mahura’s right leg with his own.

Prout played in 262 career NHL games with Columbus, New Jersey and Calgary. He signed as a free agent with the Sharks this summer, but this incident might get him down to the minors instead of cracking the NHL roster…

Unless the Sharks saw some grit there and might give up another shot this preseason ahead of the season opener on Tuesday against the Golden Knights in Vegas.
