After a frantic day, the trade freeze is now in effect until the Vegas expansion draft happens. Teams traded all over the place in the last few days and now the table is set for the big show.

However, life still goes on across the league. Teams need to maintain their roster, sign players and plan for the future. This is exactly what the Sharks did today, by signing three high profile prospects.

Tim Heed has only played one game in the NHL thus far, but he's played only for one year in North America, being a product of the Swedish national league. At 26 years old, he has a relatively small frame for the NHL but shows great flashes and adds depth to the Sharks' defensive roster.

Ryan Carpenter is a medium sized forward who's played a handful of games in the NHL thus far. The undrafted 26 years old's story is inspiring but he's still pushing hard to reach the NHL and establish himself as a regular. He had a decent 39 points in 54 games last year in the AHL and could be ready to move up more frequently.

Joakim Ryan is a former 7th rounder who's a regular in the AHL. With 49 points in 61 games last year, he's showing great promises as a puck moving Dman and could also get a crack at the NHL if the conditions are right. He's not the biggest guy around but he could still get a shot.
