It has been said for years, not everyone enjoys the All-Star Break and all of its festivities.

This year, two star players in Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price announced that they would miss the All-Star weekend, looking to rest before the end of the regular season calendar and for a long playoff run. Some fans were disappointed, but seemed to understand: the players are tired and want to rest up to be as healthy as possible when it matters most.

Not every player called it off, however, San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic had something to say about the annual event, even though he is not taking part in the festivities this season. However, three of his teammates, Erik Karlsson, Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns are involved in the different skills competitions and games.

Vlasic believes the All-Star Game should be cancelled from now on, completely removed from the NHL calendar in the years to come. He explained what he would do instead during an interview on the new show JiC on TVA Sports in Montreal.

"If it was up to me, I would remove it completely, I would give holidays to the elite players who play a lot to give them rest for the rest of the season," he said, translated from French.

We are pretty sure a lot of players would agree with his suggestion: a vacation sounds like a better way to spend the week off. Some players will get to go exactly that as another teammate of Vlasic, Evander Kane, has traveled to Maui, Hawaii during the break. He posted a picture of his vacation on social media on Thursday.

The All-Star Game is taking place in San Jose this year: the team might not be thrilled with Vlasic's comments, however, we agree that some time off is well-deserved at this point in the season.
