In case you missed it, NHL insider John Shannon of Sportsnet broke the news yesterday that Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz is suffering through a potentially life-threatening sinus illness. The news came to light following hockey fans openly mocking Katz for his disheveled appearance during yesterday’s press conference in which Katz introduced Ken Holland as the Oilers’ next GM.

Again, it was Shannon who broke the news of Katz’s illness, a report that was confirmed by the Oilers organization.



After Shannon’s tweet was sent out into the Twittersphere, former Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray weighed in on the matter with his own personal tale about battling a similar condition and… well let’s just say he took the high road when it’s clear he could take personal issue with Katz.
