Sidney Crosby has been injured.

They say no good deed goes unpunished and unfortunately that may be the case for Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby on Saturday night.

Crosby and his Penguins are facing off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night but the big story coming out of this game right now is the fact that Crosby appears to have vanished into the Penguins locker room after being spotted limping off the ice with an apparent injury. Unfortunately we have been unable to track down a replay of the incident that led to Crosby's injury just yet but we are working on it and will be updating this story as soon as that footage becomes available.

What we can tell you is that Crosby was skating up the ice when he suddenly pulled up limping and that may have been the result of him taking a puck off the front of his skate. There are some reports suggesting that Crosby's legs buckled awkwardly on the play, so there may be more here than initially meets the eye, but it does seem as though the puck striking his foot is the most likely cause of injury at this time.

As of this writing Crosby has not emerged from the Penguins locker room, which would obviously seem to indicate that he has been hurt at least to some degree. Hopefully it will turn out to be a non-serious type of injury but we will keep you up to date with all the details as they become available.

Just earlier today Crosby donated a brand new car to a US Army veteran in need, which makes the fact that he got injured this evening after being such a fantastic guy all the more frustrating.
