Simmonds calls out Flyers for the way they treated him right before return to Philly!

After veteran forward Wayne Simmonds was traded from the Flyers to the Nashville Predators on Feb. 25, he never got a homecoming in Philadelphia.

The time has now come that the New Jersey Devils, with whom he signed as a free agent over the summer, are in Philly tonight for a return to the City of Brotherly Love.

However, Simmonds had some harsh words to communicate to his former team ahead of the contest, per Flyers insider Sam Carchidi.

“I put so much time and sweat and tears into this organization. I thought I did everything I could possibly do to at least get a bit of an extension.”

Simmonds gave everything he had in Philly, especially during a contract year where he struggled with injuries. He played through a torn pelvic ligament, pulled groin, broken teeth, broken ankle and torn ligament in his hand two seasons ago and last season wasn’t as effective only because he was coming off four surgeries.

That might have prompted the Flyers to trade him and focus on younger players.

While some fans will want to cheer Simmonds in his return to Philly, where he really made a name for himself in the NHL, the veteran forward once mentioned he would like to hear some boos, which would show he is still feared…

His latest comments might help him reach that.
