Some bad news and some even worse news for Red Wings Kronwall.

Not what Detroit was hoping to hear.

The Detroit Red Wings were given a heaping serving of bad news on Monday.

According to a report from Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press defenseman Niklas Kronwall was once again unable to participate in an informal skate today due to his lingering injury, and furthermore Kronwall revealed that the injury might be permannent.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever be pain-free, but hopefully, I’ll be able to be out there in a position where it doesn't bite as much,” Kronwall said.

It's right around the last thing you'd want to hear from Kronwall, and it should come as no surprise with him feeling this way about his injury that there is now serious doubt about whether or not he will be prepared to start the season. Kronwall himself admitted his progress had not been what he had hoped it would be.

“But of course I’m very disappointed that I’m not farther down the road than I am right now. I would have hoped with a few months at home, that I would be farther down the road.”

There really doesn't seem to be a silver lining here, it appears the best outcome would be to hope Kronwall heals significantly better and faster in the coming weeks, but how realistic that is at this point is unclear.
