Spezza backhands it out of mid-air for a beautiful assist

Midway through the second period of tonight’s’ game between the St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs and veteran forward Jason Spezza may already have an early candidate for assist of the season. 

Check out this play from Spezza in which he bats the puck out of mid-air, on his backhand, to get the puck to teammate Frederik Gauthier for the finish:

And if that weren’t pretty enough, the Leafs took the lead on a BEAUTIFUL passing play just moments later:

Yeah… I think this Leafs team will be pretty fun to watch this year.
