If you're one of those Maple Leaf fans that believes it's only a matter of time before Steven Stamkos comes to Toronto then you'll like this one.
The Lightning's star forward ended his goal drought against his potentially future team on Wednesday night with a trademark Stamkos goal. With the Lightning being gifted an early power play Stamkos set up in the left face off circle and fired a rocket home to give his Bolts the 1-0 lead.
It's a win-win situation for the Leafs who are now tied for the fewest points in the NHL, and who have made no bones about their attempt to proceed with a long-term rebuild that will hopefully lead to long-term success in the future, if Stamkos scores their risk of losing and increasing their draft position improves, and all the while he may be auditioning for his next team.
