Stanley Cup champion and longtime captain will have his number retired

According to a report from Tampa Bay Lightning beat writer Joe Smith, the Lightning will retire former captain Vincent Lecavalier’s #4 to the rafters of the Amalie Arena prior to a game against the Los Angeles Kings on February 10th, 2018.


Lecavalier was selected 1st overall by the Lightning in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and would go on to become the face of the franchise for 15 seasons. He captained the team to its historic 2004 Stanley Cup championship. He’s a four time NHL All-Star and was awarded the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2007 as the NHL’s leading goal scorer.

Lecavalier retired in 2016 after a 17 year long career in the NHL that saw him put up a remarkable 421 goals and 949 points in 1212 NHL games.
