Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

That is the case with ex NHL coach Jacques Demers. He suffered yet another stroke in the last six months.

Demers won the Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens during the 92-93 season. Over his career which was over 1000 NHL games, he also coached Quebec, Detroit, St. Louis and Tampa Bay. He is a Canadian Senator and also appeared regularly on Antichambre which is a french language sports talk show that plays on RDS.

He recently was part of the home opener ceremonies for the Habs where he carried out their famed torch to give it to captain Max Pacioretty. It was a very special moment for him as you could see the pleasure on his face. However, he had suffered a stroke back in April 2016 and was in a wheel chair for the ceremony. Montreal's coach Michel Therrien and their players talked about how special it was to have Jacques be part of the ceremony. Therrien talked about how much as a young coach he looked up to Jacques so being able to wheel him out and see how happy he was to be there was a big moment for him.

He is beloved by many people in and around the NHL community. Pretty much all of his colleagues from RDS talk about him regularly in hoping that is back soon. They often send out positive thoughts to him during their broadcasts of the Montreal Canadiens games and there is rarely and Antichambre that goes by without his name being mentioned. This will most likely be some terrible news for them and we can expect Jacques to be a big part of their show tonight.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
