The performance of a National Hockey League rookie may result in an NHL veteran being traded.

On Thursday's segment of Insider Trading ESPN's Pierre LeBrun made a surprising reveal regarding the Dallas Stars and their plans moving forward as it pertains to roster moves.  LeBrun believes that the performance of one rookie defenseman will play a big role in what they do.

"They are gonna have too many defensemen on their roster and Julius Honka, the young Finnish defenseman, has come up and been terrific for them."

LeBrun believes an excess of defensemen will lead the Stars to make a move on the blue line to improve their forward group.

"At some point when they are healthy when they know what kind of team they have I do think they will be able to trade from a position of strength and upgrade up front."

As far as who will be the man on the move? LeBrun believes a former Cup Champion is the "odd man out."

"Johnny Oduya is a guy who happens to be a UFA July 1st... I don't think he's in the future of the Dallas Stars, probably a guy they would be willing to move."

LeBrun is very confident the Stars will make a trade, it may not be right away but based on his comments it certainly sounds like a trade is coming.

"But at some point the Dallas Stars have a defenseman to trade."
