Yet another blockbuster incoming trade out of Colorado?

The domino effect could be huge!

The most intense part of the hockey season is about to happen, namely the expansion draft and the UFA signing frenzy. Many teams are jockeying up to gain the best assets possible, but one team is notoriously shopping to sell major pieces of its lineup to rebuild on more solid grounds.

The Avalanche had a pretty tough year, to say the least. Their roster is not exactly world class, but excellent players are still wearing their jersey. However, Joe Sakic might be looking to get a big payoff out of these underachieving players.

According to rumors, Matt Duchene is actively being shopped around the league. This is nothing new, we reported about it often. Thing is, we just learned this blockbuster transaction could lead to another one with the right conditions. If the Avs get a quality defenseman in the Duchene deal, they could be interested in trading Tyson Barrie too, who could bring a huge payoff himself.

The diminutive defenseman established himself as a top producer back in 2014-2015, earning 53 points in 80 games. However, since then his production has declined steadily, in accordance to the whole team's decline. Although he was injured in a freak accident in the World Championship, he should be okay to play the first game on the upcoming season.

Barrie could had a high offensive upside to teams looking to improve their blue line. Arguably, Barrie is not among the elite defenseman of the league, but he could still had a different aspect to hermetic systems looking to open up their scoring chances.

The Avalanche saga will be highly interesting to watch in the coming weeks for sure!
