Star forward admits he may be traded this season.

It doesn't sound like he wants to be dealt either.

There is a very interesting situation going on in Colorado with many whispers of a potential rebuild for the Avalanche and a team dead last in their division, and it seems like the players themselves are hearing the noise as well.

While there are a number of interesting names that could be on the move in Colorado there is one veteran forward who truly stands out, star forward Jarome Iginla. It's not just because he remains one of the most recognizable names in the sport either he's also in the final year of big money contract meaning that if Avalanche are well out of a playoff spot, as it appears that may be come the trade deadline, he's likely to be on the move.

It sounds like Iginla is still holding out hope that the Avalanche could turn it around, but admitted that his ultimate goal remains to win it all, something that may be more likely to occur should a contender acquire him at the trade deadline. For his part Iginla appears distincly aware that a trade is looming but won't adress it further until the time comes.

“I’d still like to win," said Iginla as per Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal. I won’t lose hope in that. Hopefully we can be in the playoffs but I understand how it works at the deadline if we’re not (going well). I’ll cross that bridge when it comes,” he said.

We don't see a way the Avalanche turn this season around, nor a world in which they hold on to Iginla and let him walk for nothing as a free agent, the interesting question now becomes who will pick him up in their run to the Stanley Cup?
