With the possibility of this trade alone being on the table we could be headed for a very exciting offseason. During a recent interview with the Denver Post Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene revealed his belief that there is at least a possibility his team looks to trade him over the summer.

"I'm sure it will be thought about," he said as per the Post's Terry Frei. "Early in the year, there were lots of rumors, and it's part of the business. All I can do is be the best I can be and play as hard as I can for my teammates and do whatever I can do to help this team win."

It's hard to imagine anything less than a King's ransom being the price for Duchene, he's in his prime at just 25 years old, and for the first time in his career recorded 30 goals in a season despite the fact he missed time due to injury and despite the fact his team wasn't good enough to make it into the playoffs. Add to that the fact that Duchene comes with three more years of control, albeit at a $6 million dollar cap hit, and you have an extremely attractive option for teams in need of offense.

The Avalanche dealt Ryan O'Reilly already so it's not impossible to imagine them hitting the reset button while maximizing their assets.
