Yesterday the Tampa Bay Lightning made a trade that appeared to signal they would be sellers prior to the trade deadline, and some believe dealing Nikita Nesterov was just the "tip of the iceberg."

It sounds like goaltender Ben Bishop could be the next piece to be moved according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, a move that he believes would benefit both the Lightning and Bishop at this point in the season.

"I think Tampa knows they’re not going to re-sign him," said Friedman as per Fanrag Sports. "The way it’s gone this year for Bishop, it’s probably costing him money at this point. And I think there’s a feeling that it’s going to be better for both of those guys if the goalie situation clears up. Send Bishop somewhere else, give him a fresh start. It could pick him up and get going, giving him a good run into free agency. And it gives Vasilevskiy the net, making sure he knows it’s his. Because he’s Tampa’s goalie of the future, and they’ve got to let him play."

‘So I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we start hearing Bishop’s name and he might be moved soon.”

The good news for the Lightning is there is no shortage of playoff hopeful teams who have dealt with shaky goaltending this season and three names in particular stick out to Friedman.

“I think a team like Dallas could do it. I think a team like St. Louis might do it. Who’s looking for goalies out there? I wonder about Anaheim. I’m curious to see if Bob Murray is really comfortable going into the playoffs with John Gibson and Jonathan Bernier."

While it's still unclear where he may end up, it seems highly unlikely that Bishop remains in Tampa for much longer.
