Stars and Capitals make a minor deal on Wednesday.

The Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals have completed a minor deal.

According to multiple reports the two clubs have swapped two young American Hockey League defensemen with Darren Dietz being sent to the stars in exchnage for Mattias Backman.

Backman is a left-handed shot & former Detroit Red Wings draft pick, and was selected at the 2011 NHL Draft. Backman has appeared in 41 games for the Texas Stars this season recording 3 goals and 8 assists for 12 total points and a plus minus rating of +9.  Backman does not have NHL experience as he has yet to crack an NHL roster.

Dietz, a former Montreal Canadiens pick who was also drafted in 2011, shoots right and has appeared in 39 games for the Hershey Bears this season, recording 6 goals and 6 assists for twelve points and a plus minus rating of +5. His last stint in the NHL was in the 2015-2016 season when he appeared in 13 games for the Canadiens.
