An ugly scary crash in the first game of the season…

Dallas Stars defenseman Roman Polak was stretchered off the ice in the second period of Thursday night’s contest versus the Boston Bruins after going headfirst into the boards and everyone in the rink was worried sick.

Polak was chasing Bruins forward Chris Wagner into the corner and simply took an awkward fall into the boards while attempting to stop. After the crash, he didn’t move…

While most people are busy talking about the response to the play from the commentators on NESN’s Bruins broadcast and the reaction to these inappropriate comments made by Polak’s agent, Allan Walsh, the focus should be on the defenseman himself.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed the update from the team and head coach Jim Montgomery: Polak has full use of his extremities and is feeling better at the hospital.

No timetable is set for his return. He was however released from the hospital last night.

For a motionless player to get moving again, that’s great news. We send him our best and wish him a speedy recovery.
