It seems like Julius Honka might not star the 2019-20 season in Dallas after all…
According to Matthew DeFranks of the Dallas Morning News , the Stars are looking to move the 23-year-old blue liner after adding Andrej Sekera to their crowded back end this summer.
Honka became a restricted free agent on July 1st and looks expandable for the Stars, after posting four assists in 29 games last season. He was a healthy scratch for the final 35 games of the regular calendar and did not dress in the postseason.
The team insider believes that if the Stars can’t find a trade partner to acquire the young defenseman, they might be forced to hold on to him rather than risking losing him on waivers.
Honka, who was selected 14th in the 2014 NHL Draft, has posted two goals and 13 points in 87 career games with the Stars.
