The Pittsburgh Steelers almost made it to Week 1 free of any injuries, but unfortunately they will be down at least one man as they kick off their season in the National Football League.

On Saturday the Steelers confirmed that guard David DeCastro would not be eligible to play in Week 1 and have ruled him out due to an injury. The news comes as relatively little surprise given that DeCastro has been on the sidelines with a knee injury for the majority of training camp at this point and has thus far been unable to return to the field to practice with his teammates. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had remained hopeful that DeCastro would be ready to go against the New York Giants on Monday night, especially given the fact that the Steelers effectively get an extra day to prepare for this week, but it was not to be.

According to multiple reports the Steelers will be putting in Stefen Wisniewski to replace DeCastro on Monday night, it will be Wisniewski's first appearance with the Steelers. Wisniewski was an offseason signing for the Steelers during the offseason, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs during the previous season.

No other player on the Steelers roster has been given the injury tag heading into Week 1.
