The future looks murky in Ottawa especially since the Senators shipped out their three best players, fired their head coach and allowed their controversial owner Eugene Melnyk to speak publicly and make a fool out of himself with the team’s upcoming plans to turn this mess around.

While the Senators are actively looking for a new head coach that will help support the young players on this roster in this rebuilding phase, it seems like the Canadian team has decided to seek help from other senior executive to right the ship.

Sportsnet’s Brian Burke reported on Wednesday that the Senators have reportedly asked the league for help and were assigned a senior executive from another team to help them. However, the name of that person has not been revealed.

One thing that has been revealed is that the Senators would love to get the help of Steve Yzerman, who stepped down during the preseason as GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He wanted to go back home to Detroit, where Red Wings fans want him back and now at the reigns of the team.

Hockey Town is surely be unhappy to hear that the Sens are looking to convince Yzerman to come over to Ottawa, however, they also have other names on their list.

Sportsnet has revealed that the Senators have approached Ron Francis, Trevor Linden, Dean Lombardi, Joe Nieuwendyk and Yzerman in their search for the president of hockey operations position.

There is frustration in Ottawa at the moment and the Senators will need to find the perfect solution to the team’s woes and a man with the best vision for the young players moving forward.

However, there are a lot of clubs looking for this type of help, we might think of the Edmonton Oilers at the moment, and Yzerman will be in high demand…
