Stunning Marner trade rumour emerges in Toronto!
Twitter

We get it: fans across the National Hockey League are sick and tired of hearing about restricted free agent Mitch Marner and his contract dispute with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Some Leafs fans even dare to say: get rid of him and move on already. The summer has been long and tedious for fans in Toronto and most likely for general manager Kyle Dubas, however, it seems like both parties are working hard to get an extension done before the start of the 2019-20 season. There is still time.

However, the comments and reactions of disgruntle fans out there seem to have inspired Toronto Star’s Damien Cox to put out a stunning rumour that the Maple Leafs might consider trading Marner. Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe recently noted Cox suggesting the Leafs should consider trading Marner for young, promising (and affordable) talent, such as a top-four defenseman and a top-six forward.

As many you surely do, Dupont doubts many clubs could currently afford to pay Marner $11 million annually. Only the Colorado Avalanche, Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets could afford to do so and let’s not forget that they have restricted free agents of their own to re-sign.

This seems completely ludicrous at the moment. There is still time on the clock and Dubas must know that his future lays in Marner as he put up the most points for the club last season.

Let’s not get too crazy and impatient and let’s all wait for real update to come through before we get scared off by trade rumours like this one!
