Subban reveals the Habs captain is not their real leader.

Some strong words from P.K. Subban.

Leave it to a hockey market like Montreal to keep the controversy surrounding a trade all summer.

Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban raised some eyebrows when a recent interview he conducted with the Journal De Montreal was published online, an interview that features comments some may view as disparaging to Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty. While Subban didn't directly say anything negative about Pacioretty, one of the players rumored to have clashed with Subban in the locker room, he did rather plainly state that the captain was not the team's leader.

When speaking on the topic of former teammate Andrei Markov, Subban first went on to detail his appreciation from the recent comments made by Markov in his defense, before adding what would go on to be the statement that caused the controversy.

"Andreï is the most respected player in the Canadiens locker room, and that's not to take anything away from the other players. He's the dean, and the team's ultimate leader"

While it's certainly not a direct call out of Pacioretty, given the rumors of outright hatred between the two players, this could be our first sign of it slipping to the surface.
