Superstar forward has been ruled out of Game 1.

Despite showing significant progress, the Dallas Stars will be forced play the first game of their opening round series without one of their top scorers.

Stars head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed on Thursday that star forward Tyler Seguin will be out of the lineup for Dallas' series opener versus Minnesota on Thursday night.

Seguin is still recovering from an Achilles injury, but Ruff did state that Seguin will likely be in the lineup for Game 2.

The 24-year old was seen skating separately from the rest of his teammates on Thursday.

Having Seguin closer to returning to the ice has got to be encouraging for the Stars, who desperately need him in the lineup if they hope to have a long playoff run.

He is the team's second-leading scorer behind Jamie Benn, having recorded 33 goals and 40 assists this season. Seguin has not skated since March 17.
