Swiss coach gives interview of the year, admits his team will be “dominated”

“They’re faster, they’re bigger, they’re stronger, they can shoot better, they can pass better. They can do everything better.”

Heading into Tuesday’s quarter final game against team Canada, team Switzerland’s head coach Christian Wohlwend isn’t holding his breath on a Swiss upset.

When asked what he expected in the game, Wohlwend replied, “a Canada team who dominates us again. They’re faster, they’re bigger, they’re stronger, they can shoot better, they can pass better. They can do everything better.”

Well… that about sums it up. Technically speaking, Wohlwend isn’t wrong though. Canada has never lost to Switzerland the the World Junior Championships, going 21-0 through the tournament’s history. Still, it’s an unusual tactic for a head coach to take… essentially admitting defeat before the puck even drops. Maybe it’ll serve as motivation for his young team? Maybe he’s trying to get Canada to drop its guard? Whatever the case, it’s not something you see from most hockey coaches.
