A young swiss forward is having himself a breakout season and as a result it now appears as though multiple teams in the National Hockey League have taken notice. According to a report from the Swiss Hockey News 23 year old center Pius Suter has already been contacted by a number of teams in the NHL, although at this time we do not know the identity of the teams that have already reached out.

"I know from his agent that some teams have contacted him," said Sven Leuenberger as per the Swiss Hockey News.

There are a number of factors that make this situation particularly interesting for both teams in North America as well as for Suter himself. First and foremost it is no secret that Suter has been looking for an opportunity to play in the NHL, something that makes him an ideal candidate for teams that would be interested in him, but there is also a clause in his contract that makes this a time sensitive issue. According to the Swiss Hockey News, Suter remains under contract with the Zurich SC Lions until 2023, however he does have an out in his contract that would allow him to walk away from that contract should an NHL offer present itself in the summer of 2020.

The timing of that clause cannot be understated as Suter is currently having the best season of his career, just months before he could activate that clause in his contract. Suter has appeared in 50 games for the Lions this season and thus far has 30 goals and 23 assists for a combined 53 points, well over a point per game of production. It also has to be said that as a center Suter plays at one of the most desired positions in hockey, only adding to the value that NHL teams attracted by his scoring are going to see in him.

For his part Suter is not talking right now, remaining focus on his current season with the Lions much to his credit.

"I am not involved there," said Suter. "I’ll occupy myself with that after the season. We are hopefully not done yet."
