Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving gave a much-awaited update on TJ Brodie after the defenseman unexpectedly collapsed during a team practice on Thursday.

Treliving says that neurological tests done on Brodie have come back negative, but adds there are more tests to be done and the team’s medical staff will leave “no stone unturned", per TSN's Bob McKenzie. It is believed that Brodie suffered a fainting episode and not an issue with his brain. The tests will tell us more.

For now, Brodie is at home and “feeling good”. He won’t travel with the Flames for their road game tomorrow against the Arizona Coyotes and there is no timetable for his return.

Practice came to a halt on Thursday when Brodie fell to the ice and started convulsing. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher and went to hospital for evaluation where his teammates came to check up on him as practice was cancelled.

Seeing that Brodie is expected to miss action, the Flames recalled defenseman Oliver Kylington from the AHL on Friday. They also placed Juuso Valimaki on long-term injured reserve.

Brodie is in his ninth season with the Flames. He has eight assists in 21 games this season.
