The National Hockey League's regular season for the 2019 - 2020 campaign has come to a screeching halt and no doubt a ton of the talk over the next several weeks will be surrounding how the NHL will resume that season in the midst of the current global situation. Although it may seem doubtful that the NHL would be able to find a way to play, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has remained optimistic and that optimism has been echoed by prominent figures like President Donald Trump and even by legendary players like The Great OneWayne Gretzky.

Although I have not really felt the need to ask this question myself, some have been openly questioning how legitimate the eventual Stanley Cup Champion would be given just how bizarre this season has already been and how bizarre it will undoubtedly be if the NHL does find a way to squeeze those games in. I suppose it is a fair way to look at things and in fact it is apparently a stance that has even been adopted by some of the NHL's most prominent players, a former Stanley Cup Champion in fact.

According to a report from Stephen Whyno of The Associated Press, Los Angeles Kings star defenseman Drew Doughty, a man with 2 Stanley Cup Championships to his name, downplayed the accomplishments of the eventual winner as not being a real Stanley Cup Champion.

"It's not going to be like winning a real Stanley Cup," said Doughty.

It has to be said that Doughty has been on a team that has been at the bottom of the standings the entire season and with no hopes of making the playoffs even in an extended playoff bracket situation it's easy for him to make that statement. Whyno spoke with another Stanley Cup Champion on Monday when he interviewed Washington Capitals star forward T.J. Oshie via a video call from his home and Oshie, who's Washington Capitals were very much looking like a threat to challenge for a championship, had a very different opinion than Doughty.

According to Whyno Oshie stated that no matter what whichever team that wins the cup will have earned it at the end of the day. These are obviously two very different opinions from two guys in very different positions but that doesn't necessarily mean either guy is wrong. Which of these two NHL stars do you agree with?
