Team Canada names it's Captain for the World Championship.

Team Canada is gearing up for the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament and on Thursday they announced their leadership group for the event.

First, the big news was the announcement that Philaldephia Flyers captain Claude Giroux would once again be taking on a captain's role, this time as he leads his country at the IIHF tournament.

Joining Giroux will be a star-studded cast with Buffalo Sabres forward Ryan O'Reilly, San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlassic and Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene all serving as his alternates.

Needless to say Canada is once again fielding a stacked roster despite the NHL playoffs still featuring a huge number of Canadian players.
