The Colombus Blue Jackets are having what many would consider a miracle season after consistently struggling to ice a contending team, but they have just hit a major obstacle in their incredible run.

On Sunday Blue Jackets Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reported that former first round pick Ryan Murray had suffered a seemingly serious injury when he took a shot from the Buffalo Sabres' Tyler Ennis off the hand.

The Blue Jackets have since confirmed that Ennis was hurt, and Portzline is now reporting that the talented defenseman will miss the remainder of the regular season with a broken hand, his status for the playoffs is currently unknown.

The typical recovery time for a broken hand is four to six weeks, but the exact severity of Murray's injury won't be known until doctors get a better look.
