Learning that a player has been diagnosed with a concussion is usually very bad news for a National Hockey League franchise, but in this particular case the fact that it is only a concussion may be a positive.

New Jersey Devils forward Marcus Johansson was injured this week when a horrific looking crash into the boards knocked him out of the game, and now we know it also rattled his brain.

Devils reporter Amanda Stein has confirmed that Johansson has been diagnosed with a concussion, but when watching this live we feared that the injury could have been much, much more serious.

The impact of Johansson's head against the boards. and the way his neck jerked back upon that impact, had us thinking that there would be no way he could leave the ice under his own power.

While certainly being diagnosed with a concussion is not ideal, we're happy that Johansson wasn't more seriously injured.
