A deal between the Columbus Blue Jackets and their star goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky now seems like all but an impossibility given the information that has leaked this week regarding the alleged animosity between the netminder an his current team.

There have been significant rumblings that suggest the bad blood between Bobrovsky and the Blue Jackets will result in an end to their relationship and now it sounds like at least one team is emerging as a potential favorite to acquire the star goalie. Sportsnet's NHL insider Elliotte Friedman was asked about the deteriorating relationship between Bobrovsky and the Jackets during a recent radio interview and  when ti came to the subject of where Bobrovsky will end up, Friedmnan made it clear that he felt one team above all was the likely destination

" I mean, everything we’re looking at is the Islanders," said Friedman as per Nichols on Hockey. "I don’t know if it’s going to end up being that way, but if we were wagering right now they would be the team. "

The Islanders are one of the few teams that would make sense in spite of Bobrovsky's rather poor start to the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season and he would almost assuredly secure the number one spot for himself on that roster were he to be traded. That being said though the Islanders are not the only team that are a potential fit for the trade, the Philadelphia Flyers also appear to be in prime position to make this time of move.

Once again the Flyers goaltending situation has been shaky this season but thinks appeared to really boil over today when it was announced that veteran back up Michal Neuvirth would heading back to Philadelphia in order to receive treatment from the team's medical staff. The need for the Flyers is certainly there, in spite of having both Cal Pickard and Brian Elliott under contract their goaltending has been pretty poor, and there is also a connection there between the Flyers and Bobrovsky.

The Blue Jackets' star goaltender is intimately familiar with the Flyers as he spent two seasons with the team before becoming a Blue Jacket. The Flyers had him under contract for 2 seasons but eventually made the decision nto to keep him, one they likely regret given their current situation.
