All their chips are in.

The Washington Capitals are already being looked at as one of the favorites to go all the way this season but they may be looking to significantly bolster their roster. Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman was a guest on Sportsnet 960 radio this week and indicated the Capitals were going in for all the marbles.

“Oh, I think they’re all in," said Friedman as per Nichols on Hockey. "They’ve pushed their chips on the table and they said, ‘Okay, we’re in.’

The Capitals are setting their sights very high, and although it would like cost them a significant price, it appears they may be looking at Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien,

"They should be. They’re one of the best teams in the league. You see how well they’re playing right now. This is a year where you gamble. You take your shot. And I don’t think anybody could fault the Washington Capitals for doing it.

“I reported a few weeks ago that if Orpik had been out they might have taken a run at Byfuglien. I still think it’s possible, depending on what happens with Byfuglien in Winnipeg, that they could be a target for him."

Needless to say adding Byfuglien to an already impressive line up would be a specular coup from Washington.
