It appears that one team is looking to improve on their defense, despite having decent players already on the roster.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Colorado Avalanche are one of the many teams that will be on the hunt for new blueliners. The Avs' are apparently looking to the Winnipeg Jets for help in that regard. The Avalanche are reportedly targeting Jets' D-man Jacob Trouba as a possible trade target this summer.

"Tyson Barrie‘s future there is not that certain but I don’t think [the Avalanche] want to trade him until they can add some help," Friedman said during his "Headlines" segment. "I believe one of the targets is Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba. I’m not saying Winnipeg’s going to do it, but I think that’s a player Colorado would like to get its hands on."

If the Avalanche are unwilling to trade Barrie before acquiring a new defenseman, expect them to make a trade sooner rather than later. Trouba seems to be their man at the moment, and despite the fact that the Jets may be unwilling to let him go for cheap, the Avs' are likely willing to pay that price.

The 22-year-old had six goals, 21 points and 62 penalty minutes for Winnipeg in 81 games during the 2015-16 season.
