Team makes their RFA defenseman 'a top priority' on the trading block.

It sounds like like at least one defenseman with some control will be made available prior to t he trade deadline.

According to TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie moving 25 year old right-handed shot Justin Schultz is now one of the main focuses of the organization, this despite the fact that the Oilers have been rumored to be shopping for blue line help.

"No question in my mind that the Edmonton Oilers would like to trade Schultz." "I think that's a priority trade for the Oilers," said McKenzie as per Nichols on Hockey.

Schultz is an offensively gifted defenseman, although that side of his game has struggled to translate at the NHL level, and a right-handed shot is something many teams value on the blue line. However Schultz has not played well defensively during his tenure in Edmonton, although how much of that was related to his situation on a bad team is hard to gauge.

Nonetheless at 25, with a right-handed shot, as well as control through restricted free agency, Schultz could be an interesting option for several teams, and could fetch a decent price.
