Team USA GM Lombardi Snaps Back At Criticism

After Team USA's World Cup of Hockey outing that everyone from the management to the players and fans are dying to immediately forget, general manager Dean Lombardi is sticking up for himself and his poor roster selection.

 

Earlier today, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reported that Lombardi defended selecting Justin Abdelkader, Blake Wheeler, Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Kesler, and David Backes ahead of a player such as Stanley Cup winner Phil Kessel:

 

“I’ll take those guys any day, any day. Those guys have big time heart and when I talk about caring, they’d be the nucleus of the caring and they compete, and they can play for me any day.”

 

Experts from all over predicted the US’ implosion yet somehow, the American brass refuses to admit it was wrong.
