One of the most coveted potential free agents is likely to find a new home this summer.

It appears that contract negotiations between the Los Angeles Kings and forward Milan Lucic have come to a standstill as of late and it is becoming increasingly obvious that there will not be a place for the power forward with the Kings next season. Lucic's agent has confirmed that there has been no action from L.A recently, meaning his client will probably be forced to test the market this summer.

However, he seems to have no shortage of suitors, with one team seemingly eager for a shot at acquiring him.

According to the Edmonton Journal, the Edmonton Oilers "want him" and will be "very interested" in his services should he remain unsigned by July 1.

By all accounts the Oilers believe they need a player with the toughness and durability of Lucic, which is a glaring need on a squad brimming with young players. They believe they can address this need with a player like Lucic, who could offer protection for the likes of Taylor Hall and Connor McDavid. In addition, Oilers GM is familiar with Lucic's game from his time with the Boston Bruins.

The Oilers may have some competition for his services, as he has also been linked to his hometown Vancouver Canucks should he become a free agent.

Lucic came to L.A with a $6 million dollar cap hit, but the Kings only had to pay 3.25 million of that, with Boston retaining the remainder. He will likely command a similar deal this summer, and the Kings probably can't afford to keep him.

The 27-year old is coming off a stellar campaign recording 20 goals and 55 points last season in Los Angeles.

Unless there is a significant change expect Lucic to be with a new squad before the start of the 2016-17 season.
