It appears as if the New York Rangers have made up their minds about veteran forward Matt Beleskey.

Larry Brooks of The New York Times reports that the 31-year-old winger will be sent directly to the American Hockey League club the Wolf Pack and will not attend the Rangers’ training camp later this week.

Beleskey ended up in the Big Apple at the 2018 trade deadline as he was part of the major deal that sent Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins ahead of the postseason. While Boston had signed Beleskey to a hefty contract back in 2015, the player never lived up to the expectations…

He is now in the last season of a five-year, $19.8-million deal he signed in 2015 when he was a member of the Bruins. Early last season, the Rangers sent him down to the Wolf Pack, but it seems that he will head to Hartford  even earlier in the calendar this time around.

The Rangers’ cap charge will be $825,000, but it seems worth it for the club.

Beleskey will have to get back in the Rangers’ good graces from Hartford it seems…
