Not a good look.

Teammates drop the gloves at NHL development camp and it gets ugly.

This is definitely not the kind of stuff you want to see in development camp between two teammates.

In a stunning video published on social media over the week end we were witnesses to a rather brutal fight between two players at San Jose Sharks development camp. The players involved were 20 year old German forward Lean Bergmann and 20 year old forward Zachary Gallant. It seems like Gallant got the better of the exchange here but he may have also rubbed some of his teammates or the Sharks organization the wrong way.

It is not clear what happened exactly as the video begins midway through the fight, but Gallant gives Bermann, who is fresh out of the DEL, a rather rough introduction to North America by leveling the forward and dropping him to the ice. This is where Gallant, a former 3rd round pick (83rd overall) of the Detroit Red Wings at the 2017 NHL Entry draft, goes a little too far however. Instead of letting up once his opponent is down an enraged Gallant begins to deliver some nasty ground and pound from a mounted position, hammering a relatively defenseless Bergmann right in the face.

It is great that these two young men are showing plenty of spirit in development camp and picking a fight is certainly one way to get noticed, how it works out for them in the long run remains to be seen however.
