TFC’s Altidore apologizes for snubbing Komarov
Keystone Press

The Toronto Maple Leafs welcomed MLS champions Toronto FC to the Air Canada Centre this past Sunday evening to honour their MLS Cup victory. With several of the players lined up at center ice, there was one whose mind was clearly elsewhere: Jozy Altidore.

After the ceremonial puck drop, Altidore seemed a little too focused on his phone to notice that Leafs forward Leo Komarov was extending his hand for a handshake. While Altidore eventually did wake up to the moment, he kept his eyes fixed on his phone the entire time. It was an was an awkward moment that a lot of fans took as a sign of disrespect toward Komarov.

Check it out:

Well, Altidore has seen the video and offered up an apology on Twitter to Komarov and the Leafs, admitting that he was merely star struck.

“Hey, Komarov,” his tweet reads. “Just wanted to apologize and let you know I was caught up in the moment at center ice trying to show all of Toronto and the Toronto FC fans how amazing it was being there. Congrats on the win! Best of luck to you and the Maple Leafs this season!”
