The bad news keeps on coming for Jets rookie sensation Patrik Laine.

It's officially time to start being genuinely concerned about the health of Patrik Laine if you're a fan of the Winnipeg Jets.

After revealing on Thursday that Laine would not travel with his team on their upcoming three-game road trip, TSN reporer Sara Orlesky dropped more bad news on Friday. According to Orlesky the Jets have made the move to place Patrik Laine on injured reserve, and have also called up defenseman Julian Melchiori.

It's unclear at this time if this is merely 7-day injured reserve or the longer 24-day injured reserve but either way it's devastating news for the Winnipeg Jets. There have been no real updates from the team or Laine himself, so this is all we have to go on right now.

The Jets are currently three points out of playoff spot, and we have to imagine that they will be extremely cautious with Laine, especially if they fall further out of contention.
