The Boston Bruins are reportedly closing in on a contract with their top prospect, defenseman Charlie McAvoy.

According to TSN’s Bob Mckenzie, both sides are currently working on an ATO. If a deal had to be made, we could see the 19 years old prospect begin his professional career and join the team’s AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins as soon as this weekend.

McAvoy was selected 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2016 NHL draft and he’d be nothing less than a great addition to the organization. The Long Beach, New York native is full of promises as he was named consecutively to the NCAA and the 2017 World Junior Championship All Star Teams, while helping the USA win its first gold medal at this same tournament, its first since 2013.

This season, he played at the Boston University, collecting 5 goals and 21 assists for 26 points in 38 games.
