The speculation surrounding what the Boston Bruins will do with Loui Eriksson has reached it's peak, and the Bruins aren't hiding their plans regarding him.

With the NHL Trade Deadline only a day away, the question of the day is, will the Bruins trade Eriksson or sign him to an extension.

Well it appears that the Bruins may decide to go with a third option.

According to CSNNE's Joe Haggerty, general manager Don Sweeney told reporters Sunday that the Bruins would have no issue with holding onto Eriksson through the trade deadline even without having him signed to a contract extension. Sweeney believes that keeping the Swedish forward for the rest of the season would allow them a better chance at a long playoff run.

The 30-year-old is expected to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are tied with the Bruins for second in the Atlantic Division with one game in hand. TSN's Darren Dreger reports that extension talks between Eriksson and the Bruins are in "slo-mo," but that discussions will continue through Sunday evening.

"We'll just see what happens," Eriksson said Sunday morning, according to CSNEE's Joe Haggerty. "I'm just focused on games."

Eriksson is enjoying a a revival season and has 48 points in 62 games this season, making this season his most productive campaign since 2012.
