The Vancouver Canucks and their fans are extremely unhappy with the NHL and it's decision today.

Canucks general manager Jim Benning released a statement on Sunday regarding the NHL's Department of Player Safety and their decision not to hand discipline to Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Nazem Kadri. Kadri caught Canucks' forward Daniel Sedin with a devastating blindside hit on Saturday, which prompted a night of bad blood between both teams.

"We disagree with the ruling this morning and are very disappointed," Benning said. "However, we must accept it and put it behind us so we can focus on tomorrow's game."

The NHL declined to release an official statement to explain it's inaction, but Damian Echevarrieta, a Department of Player Safety staffer, did touch on the subject on Twitter. He specifically stated that blindside hits are not illegal in the NHL, and that the angle taken is irrelevant as long as the head is not the main point of contact.

The NHL’s department of player safety reviewed the play and determined that Sedin’s shoulder, rather than his head, was the main point point of contact.

Whether it's the rule or the NHL's decision, the Canucks organization, as well s their fans feel cheated today.
