There really was no one quite like legendary bench boss Pat Quinn. Quinn was one of the most recognizable coaching figures to ever step foot in the NHL. The Vancouver Canucks' memorable run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1993-94 was led by great players like Trevor Linden and Pavel Bure, but Quinn deserves even more credit. Quinn earned 300 wins in his NHL coaching career behind the benches of the Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. Quinn, who passed away Nov. 23, 2014, was truly a one of a kind hockey man. The Canucks will honor the late coach in a ceremony at Rogers Arena on St. Patrick's Day against the Philadelphia Flyers. Quinn was nicknamed "The Big Irishman" during his playing career, so the timing could not be any better. "We are excited to honor and celebrate Pat Quinn on St. Patrick's Day," Canucks president of hockey operations Trevor Linden said in a statement. "Pat was an inspiration to all of us. He had such a profound impact on the hockey landscape in this city and on the commitment this organization has made and continues to make in the community." Quinn also led the Flyers to a record-breaking 35-game unbeaten streak and a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 1980 which was his first season with the team. He is respected throughout the hockey world and is deserving of such a gesture from both teams. Quinn's family is expected to be in attendance along with several players from the 1993-94 Canucks. What a great idea.
