The Detroit Red Wings have made another trade and once again it is general manager Ken Holland of the Edmonton Oilers linking up with one of his former players in general manager Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings.

According to a breaking news report from TSN's Gord Miller, forward Andreas Athanasiou is on his way to Edmonton Oilers to join Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl and no doubt he will be playing with those players sooner rather than later. Thus far we have not heard any details regarding the return that will be going back the other way for Athanasiou, but we will be bringing that to you as soon as the information becomes available.

Update: According to TSN's Darren Dreger the Red Wings will be receiving two second round draft selections from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Athanasiou.

Update: Sam Gagner is also a part of this trade and will be going to the Detroit Red Wings. The Oilers will also be retaining 10% of Gagner's salary as a part of this trade.

Update: Mark Spector reports that 23 year old Ryan Kuffner is also headed to the Oilers as a part of this trade.

Stay tuned for more details.
