The Detroit Red Wings make their first top-10 pick in years!

The Detroit Red Wings have made their first top 10 pick in years. 

In an official announcement at the National Hockey League Entry Draft the Detroit Red Wings announced that they were selecting Michael Rasmussen at number nine overall.

Rasmussen put up a very impressive 32 goals and 23 assists for a total of 55 points in just 55 games with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League this past season. 

The knock against Rasmussen has been that his stats are inflated by his time on the power-play, but the Detroit Red Wings could use a power-play specialist so this seems like a solid pick.
