This is just heartbreaking…

On Wednesday morning, TSN’s Bob McKenzie announced that he has found out the staff of The Hockey News has been laid off as the NHL enters the second week of the pause due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Sadly, it’s my understanding that staff at The Hockey News has been laid off. I have a lot of friends there so thinking of them and hoping for the best for them.”

The Hockey News was founded back in 1947 by Ken McKenzie and Will Côté and has since become the most recognized hockey publication in North America.

McKenzie, a former editor for the magazine, was not the only insider to share his feelings on the decision.

Stu Cowen of the Montreal Gazette and Stan Fischler were amongst the first to comment on the terrible news.
