Former player with over 650 NHL game named head coach.

The Florida Panthers are still looking for a new head coach after they demoted Tom Rowe, who took over after they fired Gerard Gallant earlier this season. They reportedly met with a few candidates in the past weeks, such as former Montreal Canadiens’ head coach Michel Therrien and Todd Reirden, who works for the Washington Capitals. In the past few weeks, Bob Boughner was heavily linked to the Panthers.

Early report from Bob McKenzie confirms the Florida Panthers and Bob Boughner are closing in on a deal for him to be the Panthers’ new head coach.

Boughner is a former NHL defenseman who played 630 games in the NHL. He is also a former assistant coach with the San Jose Sharks.
