The foundation has been reinforced

Patrice Bergeron can now sleep easy and enjoy a few more years with Brad Marchand by his side.

“I was getting a little worried now with him playing with (Sidney Crosby),” Bergeron joked.

But we Bruins’ fans would not have found anything funny about losing Marchand (especially not to Pittsburgh). Luckily for us, and for the organization, the Boston Bruins resigned the elite forward to an 8-year, 49-milion dollar contract.

“Boston has become my second home. I absolutely love it there,” Marchand told reporters in Toronto.

Don Sweeney pulled the right moves, and locked one of the game’s greatest to an excellent contract.

Many of us fans can now rest easy knowing that the number 63 will have the glorious “B” on his jersey, and not that of a penguin, for many years to come.
